Objectives & Programs
The Overland Park Rotary Club Foundation is in existence to provide grants and facilitate programs
to strengthen our community.  We support programs that are in line with the objectives of Overland
Park Rotary and to promote Rotary’s motto, “Service above Self.”

There are two primary ways we show support for our community:

First, we sponsor our own annual
Youth Leadership Institute ("YLI").  YLI is a non-residential
leadership training program for high school students from within the Greater Kansas City area. We
select students by application each spring for the week-long session in July.  YLI’s curriculum
includes: Core leadership concepts, ethical leadership, team building, self awareness, and the value of
civic engagement. YLI graduates realize awareness of their own leadership potential. They also
develop the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful leaders.

Second, the
Humanitarian and Educational Grant Program supports local non-profit causes across the
area. Rotary Club members submit nominations according to the established grant guidelines.

In addition to our two primary programs, the Foundation offers time-sensitive support for special
circumstances. Past recipients include hurricane-stricken areas around New Orleans, and the tornado-
devastated Greensburg, Kansas.

The Overland Park Rotary Foundation’s roots go back to 1994. The Foundation was established as a
vehicle to provide humanitarian and educational services to our community.  Rotarians worldwide are
committed to the practice of high ethical standards in their business and personal lives. They promote
understanding and harmony in their communities. The Foundation is a §501(c) (3) nonprofit Kansas
organization.  Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible.

The Foundation received two bequests from long-time Rotarians in 2008: Art Kramish and Bart
Cohen. Contributions are welcome and should be sent to the Foundation at the address above.
